Protecting what we love:
Our responsibility.
Brasseler is a family company. As such, we think about the generations that will come after us. We want to help make sure the world left for them is a liveable one. A company like Brasseler takes its responsibilities very seriously – towards our employees, and towards regional organisations, our fellow man, and the environment.
Today, companies have many different opportunities to integrate sustainable and social action into everyday business. Here is a brief excerpt of what we are doing – for our region, for people, and for the environment.
For the region
We are an international company, but we maintain close ties to our sole production site in Lemgo. This is part of our identity as a company. We primarily support regional projects in the areas of health, integration, sports, education, and social affairs.
Win-Win Exchange
The Lemgo Win-Win Exchange brings regional organisations and companies together on an equal footing, and allows them to exchange ideas and information. As a company, we are able to provide a variety of resources to this charitable organisation, while getting information on diverse projects at the same time.
Children’s Christmas party
Most people associate the Christmas season with contemplation and with gifts. But there are families that are not able to give their children a proper Christmas. We have been working with the Lippe district “Outpatient family support” for over 10 years to help make Christmas dreams come true for kids.
Volunteer fire department
A rapid response extinguishing vehicle from the Lemgo volunteer fire department has been stationed on company grounds since 2016. The vehicle is staffed by company employees who work with the volunteer fire departments throughout the district and beyond.
Top-class sports in Lemgo
To promote competitive sports in Lemgo, we have supported the TBV Lemgo Lippe Bundesliga handball team for over 20 years. The league is a great way to promote our region. As a co-sponsor for TBV Lemgo Lippe, we want to keep supporting local premier league handball teams.
District heating
We purchase 95% of our heating needs from local, climate-friendly cogeneration plants. District heating improves the CO² balance in Lemgo up to 40 percent, compared to energy generated from oil heating.
Green roof
Green roofs recover developed area as green space. They reduce temperatures, since the roof’s surface does not reflect significant heat, and help to improve the microclimate. In addition, less rain from the roof surface enters the sewer network, helping to reduce load on the system.

Rain water usage
We cover 40% of our water consumption for flushing toilets with rain water each year.
Heat recovery
The waste heat from our ventilation system is used to heat the air; the systems are approx. 80 – 90% effective. The waste heat from compressors is used to heat service water and support the heating system. We are able to recover 70% of the energy used, corresponding to approx. 800 Mwh each year.

Solar energy
We have been using photovoltaic panels for many years, and are continuously expanding our system. The photovoltaic system now saves over 87 tons of CO² annually.
Recycling
Brasseler has been recycling paper, cardboard and lightweight packaging since 2018. We calculate that, thus far, we have saved up to 100 tons of resources and an additional 14,951 kilograms of greenhouse gases.

Waste water treatment
Our modern waste water treatment system ensures we comply with, and often fall well below, statutory limit values.
